I was able to get my kids to cooperate yesterday, which for a photographer is just about the best thing ever.   Its so hard to photograph my kids, especially Maggie (the oldest).  Thankfully they knew what bribes were.  Even the baby.

For the full session, you can watch it here:

E. came in a couple of weeks ago for her 2 year session – which was great, because I photographed Miss E. as a newborn, and I love to watch my clients grow.  She is the most articulate 2 year old on the planet.  We had tons of conversations about Princesses and Disney World, and I just couldn’t get over how grown up she is – at TWO!  Her smile just lit up my day.

Her family is officially one of my most favorite clients ever.   I just love them!

E. as a itty bitty:

And now:

Catching up on some older session – here is baby K., sweet as can be.

Somehow I get the feeling that my companionship just isn’t enough for my family today.

This is mine – My Maggie.  She has a guitar that she loves.  Nana bought the guitar – a sweet little pink number that doesn’t ever stay in tune.  She loves it though, and to her, she is a rock star.  She wrote a song this morning, like she does about once a week.  Once, when we were playing ‘American Idol’ (she was the contestants), she made up her audition songs on the spot…and did so for 40 minutes.  She made up about 20 songs – it was truly hilarious.  Here is todays song.

once upon a time

in a little wood house

a sweetie baby and cutie pie

and they were very beautiful

they lived in a little nest

and they were really pretty

they flapped all around

they flapped all around all day

they ate all day

all day

they jumped all day

they played all day

and they met a cat

that was really mean

so they were scared

and they flew away

and they were really scared

and they went back to their

far away nest

One day she’ll fill stadiums, but for now she’s content to just rock out on her little pink guitar.

Rebecca (4 comments.): She is so lovely! And getting SO BIG! That dress with her pink guitar is perfect. :D

baby D. has arrived!  At just a week and a half old, he is already a charmer.  Not only was he a super snuggler, he had the best little head of hair that I’ve seen!  I had a little bit of fun styling it, since my little miss Josie still doesn’t have much hair, even at 8 months.  But not D. – he has hair to spare.  I’m so jealous.

you! vote now!

March 14, 2010

Thank you everyone for participating in the nursery contest!  I’m excited for the poll to begin – Please vote on your favorite nursery, as listed below!

The rules and fine print!

  • Voting will be open until midnight, March 21, 2010.
  • You may vote once a day.
  • Don’t try and trick the system – I will be checking, and if there is anything weird going on, I’ll be contacting you via email for resolution.
  • You are allowed to tell as many people as you like — spread the word like wildfire to get the votes… but please do not make any disparaging remarks about the other nurseries.  If I find out that this has happened, the parties responsible will be removed from the contest.  I won’t tolerate being mean!
  • If you publicize via Facebook, please be sure to let people know that this is in no way a Facebook sponsored contest while it would be awesome if people became my fan on Facebook by clicking here, it is not a condition of participation at all!
  • Winners will be announced on Match 22, 2010.  First place receives a free session in their fabulous nursery with their adorable child.

And now for the finalists and voting! Note that numbers are posted on each nursery and listed below each image.

M. and C. came in yesterday for their maternity session yesterday and it went great!  M. brought along some fun clothing and jewelry selections that brought depth & texture to her pictures.  They are anxiously awaiting the birth of their baby in March and I can’t wait either – that is gonna be one gorgeous baby, I just know it.

I got to spend a lot of time with my baby last night. She had fitful sleep, fighting and kicking and just generally uncomfortable. I didn’t know why, but this morning I got my answer. One teeny, tiny, sharp toofer – with another just bubbling on the surface.  How can this be happening – my baby, my last baby, is growing up.

and of course, Maggie.  No new teeth here – we’ll be waiting a while for those.

Is your baby under 24 months?
Do you have a super cool nursery?
Would you be interested in winning a free session and mini-print package?

If you answered yes to all three of these questions, we would love to see pictures. What’s in it for you? A chance to win a free photography session featuring your baby and your nursery! We would like to see between 1-4 photographs of your space. At least one photograph must include your child in the nursery itself. We are looking for creative use of light, color and design elements. Images must be taken by you or someone in your family (we are really saying “please don’t submit images taken by another professional photographer.”)

All submissions must be received by midnight, March 7, 2010.

Entries will be judged by a panel of photographers who will narrow down the selection to 5 nurseries. The finalists will be posted on participating photographer’s blogs and the winner will be chosen via a public voting poll. Voting will occur between March 10-March 14, 2010. There are specific rules around voting that will be clarified during the voting round of the contest.

Winners will be announced on March 15, 2010. There will be 2nd & 3rd place prizes also awarded. Winning session must take place between March 22 – April 25. Winners must sign a release to allow participating photographers to display images on blog, website, Facebook Business Page and any other print or web materials as deemed appropriate.
